Terms & Conditions

Last updated: May 20, 2026

These terms govern equipment rentals from Spokane Self Screen LLC ("we," "us," "Spokane Self Screen"). By booking a rental you agree to all of the following.

Section 01 — Rental terms

1. Rental terms

Each rental is $300 flat per overnight, plus Spokane sales tax (~8.9%), for a total of about $326.70. Payment is collected in full at booking via Stripe. The customer picks up the kit at our Spokane address Saturday between 2–6 PM (or the agreed pickup window) and returns it by 10 AM the next morning. Sunday events are handled as a Saturday-pickup / Monday-return at the same $300. Renters must be 21 or older.

Section 02 — Equipment responsibility

2. Equipment responsibility

From pickup until return, the customer is responsible for the equipment, including loss, theft, vandalism, and damage from misuse. The customer agrees to use the equipment only as instructed at pickup and in the included setup materials, to anchor the screen per the mandatory anchoring procedure (4× 25 lb sandbags plus stakes only where ground penetration is safe), and to keep the equipment dry and protected from weather conditions outside the published operational range.

Section 03 — Underground utilities

3. Underground utilities (811)

The customer is solely responsible for confirming the staking area is clear of underground utilities, irrigation, and other buried services. The customer agrees to call 811 for a utility locate where required by law or where ground-penetrating stakes will be used. Sandbag-only anchoring is permitted everywhere and is the default. We accept no liability for damage to underground infrastructure caused by use of stakes.

Section 04 — Weather & cancellations

4. Weather & cancellations

  • More than 72 hours before pickup, the customer may self-serve cancel or reschedule for a full refund.
  • Inside 72 hours of pickup, refunds are at the owner's discretion. Reasonable accommodations (partial refund, credit, free reschedule) may be offered based on circumstances.
  • We may cancel a rental for safety reasons including sustained winds at or above 12 mph, gusts at or above 18 mph, severe weather, hazardous air quality, or other conditions that exceed the equipment's operational range. If we cancel, the customer may choose a full refund or a free reschedule.
Section 05 — Refunds

5. Refunds

Refunds are processed to the original payment method via Stripe within five business days. Owner-initiated cancellations always include the option of a full refund. No refund is owed for unused portions of a rental once the equipment has been picked up.

Section 06 — Damage & holds

6. Damage authorization hold

We place a $150 pre-authorization hold on the card on file approximately 24 hours before pickup. If the equipment is returned clean and undamaged, the hold is released on the same day as return inspection. If damage at or under $150 is found, we capture the corresponding amount from the hold using our published damage cost sheet. Damage exceeding $150 is invoiced to the card on file (off-session Stripe charge). For details, see the damage section of the FAQ.

Section 07 — Content & licensing

7. Content & licensing

We do not supply content and do not arrange or sell public performance licensing. The customer is solely responsible for the content shown using our equipment and for securing any required licenses (e.g., Swank, Criterion, or equivalent) for non-private screenings. We disclaim all liability arising from the customer's content choices or licensing status.

Section 08 — Limitation of liability

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to the customer arising out of or related to any rental is limited to the amount the customer paid for that rental. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to lost profits, lost data, or property damage at the customer's venue. The customer assumes the risk of personal injury arising from setup, operation, and teardown of the equipment at the customer's venue.

Section 09 — Age

9. Age requirement

The booking customer must be at least 21 years old. We may require ID verification at pickup.

Section 10 — Governing law

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising under these terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Spokane County, Washington.
